Transformation and BBBEE

Diversity and transformation are central to our business strategy

RSA’s transformation strategy is a central part of its integrated business plan. Since transformation objectives have been incorporated into the RSA Balanced Scorecard they have cascaded through the business, leading to more effective planning and the successful execution of each B-BBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) element.

We understand the value of diversity and believe that an inclusive approach to business drives superior and sustainable results. We also understand that our progress in transforming our own businesses contributes positively to the transformation in the industry, and the Southern African economy as a whole.

B-BBEE is an ongoing priority. A new, focused transformation strategy was adopted in February 2019, designed to ensure delivery on the following objectives:

  • Driving high-impact transformation initiatives for business and social value
  • Creating a diverse and inclusive culture
  • Driving transformation through innovation
  • Leading transformation compliance

RSA Group developed specific initiatives and actions for each objective, with the executive team taking responsibility for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the transformation agenda across the group.

To ensure future availability of black intermediaries for the industry, and as a critical element of our business model and transformation priorities, RSA Group has also launched its Learning and Development program, which focuses predominantly on developing skilled black professionals able to contribute to the growth of the South African economy.
